As winner of the Ibla Grand Prize international competition in Italy, Kevin Matheson has performed in Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall. Kevin has performed as guest soloist with the Irish Sinfonietta Orchestra in New York City and with the Viva Vivaldi Chamber Orchestra. He has performed in the Ameropa chamber music festival in Prague and served as concertmaster of the Festival Orchestra. As first violinist in the Saturn String Quartet he has been heard in numerous concerts and on the premier recording of Matthew Barbre's String Quartet No. 1. For eight seasons Kevin was concertmaster of the RMA Chamber Orchestra. As frequent soloist with the orchestra he performed numerous concerts in the southeastern United States and in Ireland, including performing in the prestigious West Cork Chamber Music Festival and on radio, twice for former Virginia Governor Mark Warner and on the orchestra's first CD. Kevin currently performs with the Classic Strings Duo, the Rainier Trio and the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra. He is a faculty member with the Renaissance Music Academy and Virginia Tech's Fine Arts Initiative. |
