Bryan Matheson
Violin, viola, Suzuki violin group classes
Bryan Matheson has been principal violist of the Renaissance Music Academy Chamber Orchestra for the past eight seasons. As frequent soloist on both violin and viola he has performed with the orchestra in the southeastern United States and in Ireland, including performing in the prestigious West Cork Chamber Music Festival, twice for former Governor Mark Warner, and on the orchestra's first CD. Bryan performed as guest violist with the Irish Sinfonietta Orchestra in New York City, has been principal violist in Musica Viva's "Viva Vivaldi" concerts, and has performed in the Ameropa chamber music festival in Prague. As founding member of the Saturn String Quartet and the Classic Strings Duo he has played numerous concerts including "Chamber Music in the Garden" at Villa Appalachia Winery and for the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors. He has studied with David Ehrlich, Rami Solomonow of the Chicago String Quartet, Simon Aspell of the Vanbrugh Quartet, Pierre-Henri Xugreb of the Paris Conservatoire, Karel Spelina of the Prague Conservatory, John Largess of the Miro Quartet, Stefan Hersh of the Chicago String Quartet, and Amadi Hummings. He is currently a faculty member with the Renaissance Music Academy and Virginia Tech's Fine Arts Initiative.
