
MARKO STUPAREVIC
Piano Teacher
Winner of Second Prize in the American Prize Competition in 2025, Dr. Marko Stuparevic is a Serbian-American pianist with a portfolio of over 500 concerts and festival appearances across the USA, Israel, France, Serbia, Iceland, Bulgaria, and beyond. Acclaimed as both soloist and chamber musician, he has performed with the Connecticut Valley Symphony Orchestra, Razgard Philharmonic, National Symphony of Bulgaria, Serbian Army Orchestra, and Foot in the Door Ensemble.

His 2023 album Re/Creation -- Russian Piano Sonatas (PARMA Recordings) received international acclaim, won a Global Music Award, and was considered for the 66th Grammy Awards. He has performed at distinguished venues such as Carnegie Weill Hall, the Jewish Museum, Elebash Hall, DiMenna Center, National Opera Center, and Brooklyn Public Library, along with numerous universities, museums, and concert series across the United States and Europe.
Equally dedicated to chamber music, Dr. Stuparevic has collaborated with ensembles including the Arosteri Ensemble, Vagus Trio, 016 Ensemble, and Elements Ensemble. He has partnered with renowned artists such as double-bassist Robert Black (Bang on a Can All-Stars), violinist Elizabeth Pitcairn, soprano Maureen O’Flynn (Metropolitan Opera), and dancer Miki Orihara (Martha Graham Company). Since 2016, he has performed extensively with saxophonist Joseph Abad as the Prometheus Duo, presenting over 60 concerts and releasing a recording on Navona Records (Spectra Vol. 2).

He has been an Artist-in-Residence at Avaloch Farm Music Institute (2016, 2017, 2022) and a five-time recipient of the Evelyn Bonar Storrs Scholarship. Additional honors include awards from the Rotary Club of Serbia and the Serbian Medical Society.
Dr. Stuparevic earned his DMA and master’s degrees at the Hartt School of Music, studying with Dr. Paul Rutman, and a bachelor’s degree at the University of Arts in Belgrade under Jokut Mihailovic. A dedicated educator, he is on the piano faculty at Virginia Tech, Renaissance Music Academy of Virginia, and Luzerne Music Center. A trained Suzuki teacher, he has also taught at institutions in New York, New Jersey, Serbia, and at major music festivals. He is founder and vice-president of Music Alliance, a nonprofit arts foundation in Belgrade.
